Badam Halwa - Almond Dessert Recipe

The halwa / Indian dessert which I am publishing today is one of the best sweets, easy to prepare, rich in taste and also, on the downside, it is extremely rich in calories level.This dessert is none other than badam halwa. Since this sweet is very rich and sumptuous in taste, it is good when consumed in smaller quantities. Here all you have to do is mix badam ( almond ) paste with sugar and ghee in proportionate quantities. You can prepare this during Diwali and navarathri festivals.

How To Prepare Badam Halwa - Almond Dessert.

It roughly takes around 4 - 5 hours for soaking the badam and 15 minutes to prepare it.

Ingredients For Badam Halwa.


  • Badam ( Almond ) - 1 cup.
  • Sugar - 1 cup.
  • Milk  - 1 / 2 cup.
  • Water - 1 / 2 cup.
  • Ghee - 1 / 2 cup.
  • Saffron ( Kesar ) - 10 - 12 strands.
  • Cardamom Powder - 1 tsp.
  • Sweet less kova - 2 tbsp.


Method To Make Badam Halwa.


  • First and foremost, soak the badam in water for around 4 - 5 hours.
  • Peel the skin and grind it with milk until it reaches a smooth consistency.
  • Heat a broad nonstick deep pan .
  • Add water and sugar in it. Let the sugar dissolve completely.
  • Now add the ground badam paste and kova to it.
  • Keep stirring so that the mixture does not get burnt.
  • After 3 minutes add ghee and continue stirring.
  • When the mixtures starts leaving the sides of the pan add cardamom powder and saffron which is soaked in hot milk.
  • Switch off the flame.

Your rich and tasty Badam  Halwa is ready to be served.!!!

Almond Halwa

Kitchen Masti Points.

  1. Instead of kova, you can add 2 tbsp of milkmaid.
  2. If you are adding milkmaid then reduce the amount of sugar.
  3. For a more richer taste you can increase the amount of ghee.
  4. You can add a pinch of yellow color if you wish.
