Urad Vada or otherwise commonly known as medu wada is a well-known South Indian snack. This snack occupies an important place in the menu, be it a party or any other traditional function. Nowadays  it is freely available during evenings as a roadside snack. It is crispy and tasty but at the same time it is a deep fried snack so it is extremely high in calories, but once in a while everything is fair.

Kitchen Masti Points.

  1. See to it that that batter in not watery in texture or else the wada tends to consume more oil while frying, so it is necessary to add very little water while grinding.
  2. Rice flour is added to attain crispiness in the wada. I have added around 1 tbsp of rice flour. However, if you wish, you can increase it up to 2 tbsp.
  3. You can decrease the amount of green chillies and increase the quantity of pepper as per your desire.
  4. It is best when eaten hot along with coconut chutney.
  5. Adding Coconut piece is optional.
